World Book Night is great opportunity for people who love reading to share their passion with people they know or complete strangers – as such it is a unique event. I will be leaving copies of the book I Can’t Begin to Tell You by Elizabeth Buchan in a local community centre and in the canteen in the office where I work, so a mixture of strangers and colleagues.

I was attracted to the book as it tells the story of a woman living in Denmark during occupation in the Second World War – it shows how war can test one’s loyalty to your county, friends and family. What would I do if Britain was invaded and occupied – keep my head down and try to carry on, complain (quietly!) but do nothing or take action not knowing who I could trust and putting the lives of my family in danger. I hope I’m never faced with such a terrible dilemma.
