The Society of Chief Librarians (SCL) organised a series of regional Universal Offer Roadshows which took place in April and May 2016. The aim of the roadshows was to give library staff the opportunity to:
• hear the latest plans on the universal offers
• get a bigger picture on library developments at a national level
• share good practice within their regions
• network with colleagues in their region
A total of 9 roadshows took place, one in each of the SCL regions in England, and they were attended by over 600 members of library staff.
To evaluate the roadshows three surveys were undertaken, the first was sent to delegates directly after the roadshows to gather their initial response, the second was sent to delegates around 3 months later to see whether the roadshow had had a lasting impact and the third survey was for the people involved in organising and presenting at the events to find out what worked well for them and what could have been improved.
The evaluation shows that the roadshows had been successful in achieving its aims as the majority of people who attended felt they were better informed about the universal offers and had been given the opportunity to hear about national developments, share good practice and network with library colleagues.
SCL would like to thank everyone that helped with the organisation of the roadshows and all those that attended for making the events such a success.
