SCL is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Executive Officer.
Helen Drakard joins SCL at a very exciting time; the Universal Offers are being embedded across library authorities and as a result of ACE funding, strands of each of the offers are being further developed.
Helen’s 18 years’ experience working in Public Libraries has given her a 360-degree awareness of current developments in library management and a fluency in professional, governmental and managerial issues.
Helen began her working career in Lincolnshire County Council libraries, as a relief library assistant, quickly proving herself a capable and hands-on manager and working her way up to more senior roles including Customer Liaison Officer and eventually as Locality Librarian for Melton Mowbray Library, Leicestershire County Council.
Helen holds a Master’s Degree in Information and Library Management
Some of Helen’s more notable achievements include helping to manage, design and deliver the reopening of the Market Harborough Library and Museum in 2014, successfully managing a project to build a new children’s center family room, and producing a dissertation for her MA which contributed to Leicestershire County Council’s corporate information strategy.
In her work Helen communicates with a wide range of people and groups of all sizes, ages and backgrounds. Helen’s experience, skills and enthusiasm will be a huge asset to SCL and to public libraries.
