New assisted digital contract for libraries

SCL has been awarded a sub contract for the delivery of digital biometric visa support services led by Sopra Steria on behalf of UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).

This is a UK-wide contract for UKVI covering digital, contact centre and physical service points throughout the UK. Local libraries will provide convenient and welcoming community service points which applicants can visit in person with their documentation, and enjoy all the other library facilities on offer.

SCL has recruited 56 regional library services from across England and in Scotland and Wales to provide access to this biometric service. This new contract with Sopra Steria adds to a growing portfolio of assisted digital services and information that libraries already provide including:

  • Help for in-country visa applicants to get online and use the free public computers in libraries to complete their applications
  • The successful pilot in the Isle of Wight library service of the online Census test for the Office for National Statistics
  • The online Information4living.org.uk information tool available across English public library services to give the public information on benefits, business, health and wellbeing, jobs/careers/skills, rights and citizenship, and money
  • The mainly free to use public computers, wi-fi, and digital skills sessions for all available in public libraries.

We are excited to be able to provide this opportunity for libraries to continue to expand the services that they provide in the heart of their local communities. For more information, contact Isobel Hunter at isobel.hunter@goscl.com
