- 1. Invitation to Tender overview
Based on funding secured from the Social Action Fund, The Reading Agency invites tenders to conduct a study to evaluate the qualitative impact of The Summer Reading Challenge volunteering programme on participants, volunteers and key stakeholders.
This study intends to investigate the impact of young people’s social action linked to reading on both Summer Reading Challenge participants and volunteers. In particular, the study aims to assess:
- The impact of working with young volunteers on reading engagement and confidence for young children taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge and their families;
- The impact of Summer Reading Challenge volunteering reading support on young people (13-24) supporting the annual Summer Reading Challenge run through public libraries;
- The value for libraries of working with young volunteers.
The deadline for funding proposals is 5.00pm on 9 May, 2014. The study is expected to begin in June to coincide with the start of the Summer Reading Challenge and be completed by December 2014.
Funding of up to £30,000 inclusive of VAT and expenses is available for this study. Full ITT document available here: ITT Summer Reading Challenge
